In that case said the littlest rabbit, “I am going to vote in favour of that direction”, which happened to be a left turn. In light of this decisive vote, white rabbit said, “if that direction is good enough for you, then it is also good enough for me”. So off plodded our bunch of rabbits. The hastier rabbits were driving on at the front while the white rabbit and the littlest rabbit, held back and started to chat. The white rabbit was quite impressed that the littlest rabbit had a lot of quite interesting things to say, and the littlest rabbit was quite interested in the stories white rabbit had to tell, and quite impressed about how he learned about his steering ears, when he was a little white rabbit in the days when little white rabbit muffin was very tasty.

A good time later, the rabbits came to a part of the river which opened out into a pond type affair, on which the other side was held up by a wall of sticks and ground. In the middle of the pond was a big white swimming bird with a big white long smooth neck to its head. When the swimming bird saw the rabbits, it flipped a sort of how do you do, and in doing so, briefly showed off some fantastic white wings. The rabbits could see, even from a distance, that one of the white wings alone was bigger than six of the rabbits standing head to tail on all feet. “My name iss SSSwan, what do they call you?” said the bird to the rabbits.

The littlest rabbit piped up, “Oh we are rabbits, and we're out for a little walk today”, anxious to make an impression on the swan. The white rabbit went on to say, “Yes we are all out for a walk, and now we are all looking for a way to get to the other side of the river.”

The swan raised one of his eyebrows on hearing that comment and said, “well if the other sside of the river iss where you need to be, you could perhapss walk on the wall the beaversss left over there. Mind you, from what I can ssee at thiss angle, iss that both ssidess look pretty much the ssame . . . of the river that iss”.
