The following evening, the two friends met at Pixie Pod's mushroom house and prepared for the night's festivities by putting some gloobleberry muffin in a handkerchief and making a flask of puddle water tea. Squirrels and especially Pixies are quite partial to puddle water tea. When all was ready, the two set off in the direction of Madaboo lane.
When they got close to the lane, they could hear the splitzploos tuning their instruments. “I think its time we got up into the the trees”, suggested Pixie Pod. “I'm a good tree for viewing festivals”, came a voice from the dense wood. Tree Toper Clive hiccupped at this time, so he didn't hear the talking tree. Anyhows the pair scuttled up a tree and got a perfect view of a gamut of splitzploos.
The tuning of the splitzploo's instruments was beginning to give Pod the idea that he shouldn't have bothered but then a loud bell rang out and there was a silence for as far as the ear could hear, and a stout splitzploo began to proclaim an ancient tribal rhyme which basically refered to the fact that it was time for the free festival of Madaboo and Pan to start . . . and then it did.
Forty tremendous splitzploo windbags began bellowing out a thunderous noise and the forest began to shake.
“Holy Moly!!!”, though Tree Topper Clive as the branch he was sitting on began to wobble and if Pixie Pod wasn't there with him, he'd probably be quite afraid.
“As the noise continued, a strange melody began to develop that lulled the soul and the mind and one by one the splitzploos fell under the spell and started to fall asleep. The more splitzploos that fell asleep, the less windbags were being blown until there was one splitzploo left blowing away to his heart's content.
Pixie Pod wondered aloud, that even though there was only one splitzploo left, the noise was still scary and it was lucky only splitzploos were invited, and only splitzploos would really appreciate the racket. Certainly it seemed, it was only the splitzploos that were affected by the spells of the noise, which included the last remaining splitzploo which keeled over in a magical stupour.
